Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday became the second fastest bowler in Test Cricket history to take 200 wickets. He now also holds the record of fastest Indian bowler to claim 200 scalps.

R Ashwin achieved the milestone in 4th day of 1st Test between India and New Zealand.

R Ashwin is now behind only Australia’s great spinner Clarrie Grimmett who had achieved the milestone of getting 200 Test wickets in just 36 Test matches.

Indian spinner reached the milestone after taking the wicket of New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson who was adjudged LBW by the Umpire.

Ashwin took three wickets in second innings of New Zealand team after they were given a target of 433 runs to win in the first test between India and New Zealand.

Ashwin has now surpassed Australian pacer Denis Lillee and Pakistan’s Waqar younis who had taken 200 Test wickets in 38 Test matches.
