Himachal signs MoU with Japan on Rs. 800 crore forest project

The representatives of Japanese government and Ambassador of India in Japan signed a memorandum of understanding on Himachal Pradesh Livelihood and Forest Ecosystems Management.

Himachal Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur said that under this Rs. 800 crore project, works would be carried out in six districts of the state including Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi and Shimla in next ten years. The project would help in improvement of forest natural resources besides providing livelihood to the local people. He added that out of total project cost, Rs. 640 crore would be provided as loans.
